CHUM Hospital Complete
The final phase of the new Centre Hospitalier de l’Universite de Montreal (CHUM) was completed this month in Montreal, Quebec. Standard Metal Hardware Manufacturing Ltd. is proud to have supplied quality architectural door hardware products to this distinguished project.
The duration of this renowned $3.6B project began in 2010 and spanned greater than 10 years. Phase 1, the research center, opened in 2013 and phase 2, the hospital, opened in 2017. The last phase included their ambulatory care center, office spaces, library and a 500-seat amphitheater.
About CHUM Hospital
The CHUM began as a network of three hospitals; the Hotel-Dieu de Montreal, the Hopital Notre-Dame, and the Hopital Saint-Luc. These three hospitals merged in 1996 and decided to create a mega-hospital to become more efficient.
Standard Metal Hardware’s Involvement
Standard Metal products included a variety of stainless-steel door hardware such as handles, custom sized protective plates, corner guards and frame wraps to thousands of doors. In a medical setting, it is imperative that the right level of commercial grade protection is provided to protect walls and doors from frequent impact from stretchers and wheelchairs

This massive project was completed by Cannon Design located in the US, and Canadian design firm, Neuf Architectes.
